A year? Really?

Yes. It's really been a year since I posted to my journal. Sheesh.

It's not like I haven't been around. Doing fandom stuff. Going to WhedonCon with [personal profile] feliciacraft and [personal profile] rahirah. Fun! Smokin' 'em at Buffy Trivia Night down at the local with thedeadlyhook. Very fun! Going to Season 2 of the Buffy drag show — also with [personal profile] feliciacraft. (Star Trek drag was also pretty entertaining.) Posting to communities, or at least posting to [community profile] seasonal_spuffy .

I even finished a WIP! Buffy and the Bloodmobile, sequel to The Vamp Around the Corner is done! You can read it at any of these fine on-line establishments: LJ / AO3 / EF / BSV / TSR

I also posted a drabble at SS awhile back: Unintended Prophecy. That's it for fic in the past year. I've got a couple of WIPs that I still plan to finish. Courage!

Work is extra-specially busy, which doesn't leave me with a lot of time for participating in fandom, although I still consume fandom like woah.

Also, there's been weird, scary health things — not my own — that have taken center stage around here. For instance, have you ever heard of Transient Global Amnesia? Check it out. It's total fic bait. I wouldn't have believed it was a real thing if it hadn't happened to someone I live with. Then, someone else I live with had a month-long bout of cannabis-induced paranoia (aka, the screaming memes) sparked on 4/20. Don't be fooled into thinking the chronic is some kind of miracle cure-all, kids! I've spent way too much time in emergency rooms (and not the nice ones, either) to believe it. I'm leaning toward Devil Weed at the moment. YMMV.

Everybody is finally on the mend. We've been walking down to the new local movie emporium to catch all the superhero movies and the old movie emporium for the LGBT film festival. Going to plays, art exhibits, and concerts — Courtney Barnett, Os Mutantes, Pink Martini, among several others. One amazing thing I did was catch 3 parts of Taylor Mac's 24 Decade History of Popular Music here in San Francisco and in LA. Eighteen hours of music/history/politics! Heaven! Check out this video for a taste! I still have the first 6 hours to catch, at some point.

Life's good, if a little too "interesting" at times. I'm off to the beautiful Pacific Northwest next week for a wedding and downtime. Wish me uneventfulness.

I'm glad to hear things have been going fairly well for you.

There's definitely lots more good stuff than the other kind. Time, apparently, has no meaning anymore, though. ;-)

I really doesn't seem like a year, probably because you have been around, even if you haven't posted in your lj.

It sounds like a very interesting year...some good some bad..but then again that's life. Enjoy your weekend

I have been around! A bit more spotty than before, but not "dropped off the face of the interwebs for a year" spotty.

I've mostly enjoyed the year. When people find out about all the various caretaking things — not all of which are listed here, because: boring — they are very sweet and ask me how I</b> am doing in a very pointed way. But I am more than okay! And the outlet of fandom is pretty darned helpful.

Sakes, R, that sounds like a decade's worth of freaking out. I am glad things are a little more even keel now, and I heartily wish you pleasant, slightly boring days and plenty of time to enjoy fandom and culture in peace.

It's been a lot, but a lot of it has been super fun! Not "running around the UK" fun, but that's not too far in the future, I don't think. I'll try to post more as the Plans for the Future shape up.

Thanks for the good wishes.

Wow. I really really wouldn't want to have had to deal with all those scary health things, but I would surely have loved being with you'll at some of those trivia/fandom related things. Good to hear from you <3

We owned the room at trivia! I got a Giles Funko Pop doll to commemorate our great victory!

I'm hoping for a Season 3 of Buffy In Drag this October, but since I'm skipping Comic-Con this year, I don't know when the next real life fandom event will happen. I just know that it will. *\o/*

Good to see you!

Yes, yes I have! I couldn't have told you the name, but I (many years ago) read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, and one of the chapters dealt with two people with this condition.

Totally weird. It doesn't last long, thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster. New memories were possible within a day, but it took a couple of months to fully bounce back from the incident. It didn't help that I was out of town when it happened — but managed to push my flight up and get home within 8 hours of figuring out something was seriously wrong.

It was very "50 First Dates", except that every moment was fresh and disorienting — and that it didn't run on into weeks and months. Poor dear will never get that day back, but it could have been so much worse.

Brains: way more fragile than we think.

Yes, that's a relief. Having actually read through the relevant bit on wiki, the people in the book had a different issue. Or rather, the permanent version. :(

Mmm. Never take anything for granted...

I, too, can't believe it's been a year since you posted here, because of seeing you posting elsewhere on and off. Really and sincerely hope that on certain fronts life becomes dull as dishwater from now on. Some things really are interesting only in the Chinese curse sense of that word.

Things really are much better! MiAmor thinks he might retire at the end of the year, which could put us Over There as early as next spring. Fingers crossed.

That would be great, but just so you know, the UK is meant to leave the EU in March next year, so it's perfectly possible the whole country will descend into chaos at that time. :(

Good to hear from you!

I haven't been around as much, though I really have no excuse.

Well, it's all haaaaard and stuff. Good to hear from you, too!
