I posted a couple of my drabble requests over at writercon100, because it raises money for a worthy cause (scholarships!) and I didn't want to spam my f-list with loads of itty bitty fics. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to put drabbles on drabble forums, because I figure readers there don't mind the bite-sized portion so much. Follow the links below, if you're so inclined.

Title: Not Over It
Author: Rebcake
Fandom: BtVS, Season 4
Summary: Oz makes one last stop on his way out of town, after Willow has shattered his wolfie heart.
A/N: From a request by easy_to_corrupt for a New Moon Rising Buffy/Oz drabble. I almost made it, if you squint, but alas: no money shot.

Title: When Do We Want It?
Author: Rebcake
Fandom: BtVS, pre-Season 6
Summary: The Evil Trio work on their mission statement.
A/N: From a request by bloody_bint for a scheming Trio drabble.

Also, I hooked yet another RL friend on Buffy yesterday. Good and proper. All it took was Pangs, Something Blue, and Hush, all in a row. I'm sure her cute new girlfriend, giggling beside her on the couch, had nothing whatsoever to do with the good feelings the show engendered. Nor the chocolate. Heh. Sent her off with Season 1 tucked under her arm. She'll be back.

So, what I want to know is, where's my toaster?

I usually do Hush & Once more with Feeling; but those are good choices too!

I had already tried OMWF on this particular friend, but it's pretty hard to follow what's happening, without some background. For instance, now that she's seen Pangs, she'll get the "diseases" joke from the "I'll Never Tell" number. Continuity, I love thee, but it makes it a bit hard to jump into the middle.

couldn't leave a comment at writercon, so I'll leave it here (I also left a reply to your post at Clawofcat's Deck the Walls).

It was kind of spooky reading this. Let me explain. Within a couple of days of Tara's onscreen death (for which tomorrow is, quite incredibly the seventh anniversary!), I began writing a story which, for many reasons is, yet again, in hiatus. One of the chapters in that story involved a scene where Buffy & Tara mention (in flashback) a speech Oz makes at Willow's graveside (if I ever get the story finished, that whole scene will be explained - I'm in desperate need of quality beta-ing ), and it's that scene I was hearing in my head, even as I was hearing Buffy & Oz quietly saying goodbye to each other.

The scenes are, I promise you, quite different, but they do seem to be trying to evoke the same sense of unfulfilled loss. Oz, here, has lost Willow, yet not lost her - if he can come to terms with that disparity. If Oz is the man I think he is, i'm optimistic. Willow is right, earlier, when she says they will always be a part of each other. In her own way (and here Buffy is proving just how not-stupid she is), Buffy is trying to tell him that he will always be a part of her too; and vice-versa, if he's willing to accept it.

Thanks for putting it out there,
Still under Willow & Tara's spell,

I always get excited when great minds (or even middling minds) think alike! For instance, on the previous round of seasonal_spuffy, mere_ubu and I both had Buffy referring to Spike as "Eddie Haskell", even though we were writing in different seasons. It felt like the little wave that drivers of the same type of vehicle sometimes give each other.

I think that Oz is an amazing guy, and optimism be damned, he's going to be okay. The graveside setting is a way of saying that this character is grasping for perspective in trying times, which is very sensible. These guys are so very young, and their stories so far from done (in fanfic, if not by Joss' hand). It ain't over 'til it's over, and in Buffyland, not even then. They all of them have a special bond, not unlike old veterans, and because of it, they'll never be as alone as they think they are.

Thanks for weighing in. I always like to hear what you have to say.
